Elsewhere the question of how to handle obscenities in the spell checker was raised.

I use a text-to-speech program that fell foul of this in the wrong way.
You'll know that the Americans prefer to use "ass" instead of "arse".
I had the T-2-S program reading a certain story about animals and was confused when there was a periodic [BLEEP]

I sent them this short example and they amended the program
Balaam rose up in the morning, and saddled his [BLEEP], and went with the princes of Moab. God's anger was kindled because he went; and the angel of Yahweh placed himself in the way for an adversary against him. Now he was riding on his [BLEEP], and his two servants were with him. The [BLEEP] saw the angel of Yahweh standing in the way, with his sword drawn in his hand; and the [BLEEP] turned aside out of the way, and went into the field: and Balaam struck the [BLEEP], to turn her into the way.

    Well, it amused me

Seems like software can fall off a donkey on both sides. :)
