The Papyrus Grammar- and Spellcheck
The proofreader in Papyrus Author offers useful suggestions for improvement and often explains the error.
In addition to spelling mistakes, an intelligent grammar analysis examines your sentence structure and punctuation. Papyrus searches for errors in the use of commas, for example. It draws attention to false cases and finds twisted sentence constructions. The hit rate is reliable and the suggestions well-founded.
Papyrus Author allows you to create your own dictionaries in seconds. Any wrongly marked words can be added to your own dictionary with a click.
The Grammar- and Spellchecker is complemented by the Papyrus Autocorrection, which unobtrusively takes care of unambiguous spelling mistakes automatically.
To keep your work to a minimum, there is intelligent space and punctuation consideration.
If you move a few words, Papyrus automatically makes sure there is no superfluous blank space left where you cut them out, as well as ensuring that the insert is correctly done with a blank space to the left and right.
If punctuation marks become superfluous when moving text, Papyrus automatically deletes unnecessary commas. In this way, there will never be an orphaned comma left in front of a point (“,.”).
Papyrus Author comes with spelling dictionaries for American (US) and British (UK) English.

The help of a good Thesaurus is invaluable, if you do not quite get that expression right or need some inspiration. The Style Analysis highlighted a duplicate word and you are looking for an alternative? The Thesaurus will help.
We have added a vast synonym dictionary to Papyrus Author. Choose from a wealth of neatly fitting word alternatives and more associative word similarities for exploring.
That is why the Papyrus Author Thesaurus is one of the most frequently used and cherished tools for many writers.
The Clipboard, Notes, and Text Snippets
The usually dark grey area around your page is the Papyrus Clipboard. Here you can “store” anything to keep an eye on or use later: Pictures, notes and text snippets. Notes and text snippets serve as additional information and are not part of the actual text. They will not be printed, but saved along with the text.
A text snippet is created by dragging a block of text onto the clipboard via the mouse. If you move the content of the snippet into the main text again, it will be pasted back and the snippet itself will dissolve.
This gives you the opportunity to organize small parts of text that need to go to another spot, may be kept for some other use, should stay as a reminder of something, and so on.
With the Clipboard, you will never lose track of any notes.
Automatic Backups for At-Ease-Writing
Backups aren’t important until there is an emergency: If you delete an important paragraph and only notice it days later, or want to undo old changes. Those are easily lost.
To prevent this, Papyrus takes care of the filing work and saves your text – in such a way that, unlike with common backup systems, older stages of your texts are also retained, not just the last 5 versions, for example. You can set Papyrus to save several versions per hour, day, week, and month.
This way you can access an extensive history of your last documents and see at a glance how old these stages are and how your text developed.
By the way: With our Timestamps, you can even see when you last touched a paragraph in your document.
With Papyrus Backups, you’ll be safe rather than sorry.
